Just finished my rookie season of Learned League, and I love it. It was fascinating to click back and discover who had invited the person who had invited me, and who had invited them, and so on. I thought others might feel similarly. So I made a thing.

(There are two buttons in the lower left-hand corner. The first centers the screen, the second collapses all the branches - I'd suggest hitting that one when you start, otherwise navigation is... time-consuming.)

Key:
All roots are charter members or people the Commissioner invited.
All roots, and anyone with 10 or more descendants, got an information badge:
CI = Commissioner Invite
CM = Charter Member
Parentheses include most recently played league, then number of descendants, in the format LL## | #
Anyone with a badge who hasn't played in any of the last four leagues is in brown, signifying a player who is not currently active.

Notes:
From what I can tell I've gotten all of active Learned League in it, and a chunk of the inactive league as well. The gaps (beyond places where I made a mistake) are entire clans who had no active players in LL54. As long as even one descendant of a commissioner invite or a charter member played in the most recent league I could backtrack and pull in the rest of their lineage (I also hit some completely inactive clans here and there through happenstance, but the list is by no means complete).

Profiles only track descendants to the 10th generation, so the first couple of generations of huge clans will have their descendants undercounted - where my counts and profile counts differed, I included a note that will appear if you mouseover their name.

Given that I'm sure I'm missing entire medium-to-small clans that stopped playing before LL54, if you know of anyone who should be on there (or just want to help out!), message me your email and I'll send you an invite to give you editorial powers over the lineage.

Totally love this and am getting lost trying to track down my own name in there somewhere. I love the little Lost Clans dead ends. Nice work!

Awesome work!

I see a lot of brown, however, and I think your coding might have a bug...

I wanted to trace my lineage vs. another group of people I knew prior to LL, so I noticed over in the Rebassoo->Lipkin->Alvord branch, everyone under Alvord (LL41|998) is brown despite many of them having LL54 badges

Thanks a lot, everyone! I'm still enjoying clicking through the various branches to see how all the clans grew and grew...

And, hm, MoserK, you're right. I built the trees in another account then export-imported them to this one, and it looks like during the process the coloring got carried through all the sub-branches. I'm running through it now and cleaning up - I'm through LoveB, and into the Alvord branch of Rebbassoo. Just need to get through BourlaD and PliskaG and things should be put largely to rights...

Let me know if you catch anything else!

[Edit: Okay, cleared the BourlaD and PliskaG branches as well - should be fixed.]

That's pretty amazing, thanks for bringing this into being! I have to wonder if you intend to keep feeding it with new members every season?

n-thing the "this is really cool" comments - I had clicked through to find out how far back the chain went for me during LL54, but it's cool to see this all in one chart for everyone.

This is awesome. Perhaps this can be used for some sort of between-season competition? I'm thinking of some sort of team trivia, with a battle of great houses. For instance, I would be a peon of House Rebassoo.

Or maybe I'm way too into A Song of Ice and Fire.

Rebassoo is my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandLLama!

Hah! I would love a between-season competition in which I could represent House Fettweis!

...although House Rebassoo would overwhelm us all in sheer numbers.

As to maintenance I think it shouldn't be that hard to keep the lineage chart updated - it would only have to happen four times a year, for one, when the new rookies rolled in. The most onerous part would be updating all the badges for the larger clans, but my sense is that it wouldn't be more than a couple of hours work, since the skeleton is already built. It's an achievable proposal.

Edit: Also, wow, kudos to Yarbro for being not only an awesome LLama but also the only surviving member of House Wilson.

A House Wilson can be freed by the gift of a garment.

To PoolnerJ and you others of his like, I must say that thy inheritance is ignorance.

As another descendant of Rebassoo, I'm just glad I have a place in this muLLtiverse.

As another descendent of House Rebassoo, you'll note that my sigil bears his House colours.

In other words, you're not alone!

I am proud to wear the sigil of House Rebassoo, but I think it's worth noting that his smartest move -- in terms of progeny, at least -- was to refer Lipkin, who gets credit for 1005 of his predecessor's 1100 branch members.

And Lipkin is even more beholden to Alvord (998 of Lipkin's 1005). After that it distributes a bit more widely.

The LoveB tree is remarkably single-branched, progressing almost completely through Pierson, Schwetman, AxelrodJ, BorensteinG, and ClarkC before significant multiple threads develop.

In a way, these upper clans are actually quite small, with just that single branch leading down to a more broadly inclusive group.

Fascinating data, in any case. Thanks WhitsonJ!

Outstanding work, WhitsonJ! It's clear that my main contribution to LL has been referring you.

I sent a note privately to Ms. Whitson about this (along with an open offer to assist, which I extend to all LLamas), but I'd just like to state here that I am crazy in love with everything about this.
