Hi LLamas. I'd like to draw your attention to a couple of website updates that I have just rolled out, regarding League history.

If you visit the main page for LL history (hist/, or via the "History --> LL History Home" link in the top menu), you'll find this page largely unchanged, except now all of the seasons in the Season column of the Past Seasons table are hyperlinked. These links (which also appear elsewhere on the LL site -- e.g. the Stats tab on Player Profiles) will take you a dedicated page for that completed season, with info on what happened. There are loads of links on those pages, which take you to loads of places.

In addition, the presentation of past Champions and Award Winners has changed. The main page for Champions and Award Winners -- accessible via the link on the LL History Home, or in the "History" drop-down menu -- shows all of the trophies and awards eligible to LL players (current and retired awards), along with the current holders of each. Lots of links here as well, and clicking on a Trophy/Award name takes you to a page listing all of the historical winners of these awards.

I've always mildly lamented the fact that, once an LL season ends, it pretty just gets blown away like dust in the wind, as we quickly move on to the next thing. So, hopefully, a better record of the LL's history will give more permanence to what transpires here on these fields of trivial battle.

This is. The. Greatest. Along with defense, this is something to set LL apart - way apart - from related venues. As I've already said more privately, my lament and probably others' as well, was not mild at all. History is where it's at, baby, is probably something that Plutarch said.

Slight derail, but in the name of making sure the historical record is correct:

How is it that Rebassoo joined LL on November 9, 1997, while Commissioner Integrity joined on November 19, 1997?

Love the updates, but in FF the Awards page seems to have a bug showing a duplicate link for the MissAmy Trophy (this isn't showing up in IE). Work computer is running FF 3.6.7—I'll PM you a screenshot of what I'm seeing Commish!

EDIT--seems .jpgs aren't allowed as files... What are?

EDIT 2--seems like you fixed it! (thanks)

Hmmm...I didn't do anything. If anyone else observes this issue, can you please let me know?

I did update to FF 16.0.1 (holy hell was I out of date!) yesterday... Not sure if I checked the page before and after updates and the issue was solely on my end.

If you're talking about the Message Board, I've gloated about this recently (this year?) in another thread. Our profiles have Joined On dates. My theory is that Thorsten first presented the Message Board, then I and a couple others (now retired) posted, and then he created his own profile and posted.

Are these dates also in the History somewhere?

I was referring to the forum profiles only.

I can almost envision an LL History ML sometime in the next 15 years!

I imagined maybe he created an account "Thorsten" (or maybe even "Shayne") but then later created "Commissioner" after a few of the early adopters created theirs... or perhaps there were some test accounts he created before making the official "Commissioner" account?

Tangentially, I remember hearing while at Amazon that Employee No. 1 in the database was not Jeff Bezos but the guy who built the db.

Because it took 10 days to create this little world of ours. And the creator had to take a day of rest. Rebassoo was his first creation, rising out of the primordial trivia ooze.

Love it. Huzzah!!

Just one suggestion from another ingrate: the All-Time Leaders page allows one to sort the columns, but only in one direction. One cannot sort from lowest to highest, even in the Forfeit Losses column.

[Blushing] You're not the first person to correctly suggest I came from a trivial ooze. Take my mother... please!

What am I supposed to do with this fiddle? My back isn't even itchy.

Hope it's OK to use this thread, because it's sort of a related topic.

A few months ago, I found myself on a page with the current (QPct) leaders in the various question categories. Now I can't find it. Anyone?

My only notable LL achievement is a perfect score in Theatre, and I was looking forward to seeing my name on that leaderboard once I have enough "at-bats" to qualify...

I had trouble finding it, too; I vaguely remember that you could get to them by clicking on the name of the category itself on someone's profile page. That's no longer the case.

Googling led me to find the path of learnedleague.com/hist/categories/... Start here: http://learnedleague.com/hist/categories/gamessport.shtml... and on the lower right hand corner, there are links to the other categories. However, I do not think these have been updated for a little while, at least since LL42.

Thanks, that must be it! I thought I remembered it being current, but I guess not.

Let it never be said that the Commissioner doesn't listen.

categories.php?the

The Categories pages have been re-coded and are now available on the website, with updated information. The info will update live with each match day.

The rest of the website has not yet been linkified to link to these pages, but they are live and available as of today. I hope you enjoy them.

Not sure anyone has ever said that... :)
